Biography

Suresh Muthukumaraswamy is a Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Auckland and a key figure in the neuroimaging of psychedelic states. His collaboration with Robin Carhart-Harris at Imperial College London produced landmark studies using EEG and MEG to measure changes in neural oscillations under psilocybin and LSD. His work contributed to understanding the neural entropy hypothesis of psychedelic action — demonstrating that psychedelics increase the complexity and randomness of brain activity, correlating with the richness of conscious experience.
